THE ROAD TO BECOMING AN IMMIGRATION LAWYER
Jeff has lived most of his life in Austin. After graduating with degrees in history and sociology, Jeff got his Juris Doctor degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law and was licensed in 2000. He moved back to Austin after law school and joined a local criminal defense law firm. Jeff was immediately drawn to the unique constitutional issues that present significant challenges in the area of criminal defense law. He took pride and got much satisfaction out of helping clients who had made poor choices in life get that valuable second chance. He enjoyed the challenge of steering them back and putting them on the road to recovery and healthy life choices.
Jeff took an eight-month break from his law practice when he moved to Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. He immersed himself in the language and culture until he became fluent in Spanish. When he returned to Austin in 2002, Jeff opened up The Law Office of Jeff Peek where he practiced criminal defense, family law and immigration, and small estate planning.
In 2003, he formed the firm Evans & Peek, and got the moniker, “El Abogado Guero que habla Español” (slang for “the white attorney who speaks Spanish”). Jeff enjoyed living and working among the Hispanic immigrant community in Austin; not only did he get to know them better, but he was a part of their vibrant community. In 2010, he founded Peek Law Group and the firm’s focus has since been immigration and criminal defense.
EDUCATING PEOPLE ABOUT THEIR RIGHTS
Jeff has been on numerous local radio shows as an expert on criminal defense and immigration. It all started with radio show in Spanish called “El Show Con Los Abogados Güeros” dedicated to informing the local Spanish-speaking community of their legal rights and educating them on a wide variety of issues. The show ran for more than three years on Saturday mornings and at its height was the highest rated show in its spot in both English and Spanish.
WORK IN IMMIGRATION AND CRIMINAL DEFENSE LAW
Jeff is highly experienced with criminal trials, having defended numerous clients against serious charges. He has also represented clients in deportation hearings, in consulates and in immigration offices, fighting and advocating for the rights of immigrants before judges, prosecutors, and local law enforcement. Jeff has advanced the due process rights of immigrants and is a passionate advocate and voice for those who have been marginalized and those who have lacked proper representation.

Jeff is married to Adriana, a Mexican attorney from Guadalajara who is also active in the immigrant community. Jeff and his family are active members of the Nueva Vida Spanish Ministry at the First Evangelical Free Church in Austin, and supporters of the International Justice Mission, Compassion International, and Truth for Life.
